The latest release from Tube10 of the Subway Music Group comes from Scotland’s Blackwax. The duo have been creating waves over the past few months with their jungle inspired bass heavy music. Following up from their excellent remix of the much hyped Kastle, the Offkey EP delivers three exceptionally strong tracks.

Blackwax – Offkey EP // TUBE10 011 by Subway Music Group
The title track, Offkey is , amazingly well structured fusing breakbeat, jungle, dubstep and juke together resulting in a dark tune oozing with style. Utilising eerie synth work crossed with hard hitting percussion and broken beats, the duo have created a sound unlike a lot of music being release at the moment. Thrown in are some catchy vocal chops and in your face snares, adding the final touch too an already killer track.

Surface follows this up with more breakbeat inspired goodness, the tune has a constituent drive throughout, which will undoubtedly cause some ripples on the dance floor, as well as at home. Some heavy reese bass hits and more spooky synth work compliments the high energy drums and lead percussion, this B side is easily as strong as the A, Offkey.

Digital buyers have unusually been gifted with a digital only bonus track, the excellent Airway. This track starts out sounding like it may be a bit more tame affair, with big sweeping pads and lead lines bouncing off each other, but this soon changes. The tune kicks in with more vicious snares and percussive work that is heard throughout this release, and again, Blackwax don’t fail to deliver.

Blackwax have certainly come out strong with their debut release, and we are expecting to hear a lot more from these two over the next 12 months.
